La passation de commandement entre le général Richard Ravalomanana et le général Bruno Razafindrakoto s'est déroulée dans une ambiance austère. Le président de la transition a assisté à la cérémonie. Depuis 2009, en tant que chef de la circonscription de la gendarmerie dans la province d'Antananarivo, Richard Ravalomanana a été en effet l'un des principaux soutiens d'Andry Rajoelina au sein de l'armée.
