I was about time! the promise could have come earlier, according to a certain number of political observers. Four years after the violent putsch actively fueled by military officers supportive of Andry Rajoelina to make him the current transitional lone ruler, the main military leadership has finally decided to react. They declared themselves as convinced that the elections are the single viable way to settle the four years long political crisis and that political neutrality from security and armed forces are a compulsory pledge to the correct cast of free, fair, believable and democratic elections. This absolute neutrality during the elections they will respect, and solemnly gave their word.
The military leadership engagement letter was shared out to each and every transitional institution, and of course to the International Community’s representatives, and to the National Electoral Commission. The signatures noticed on this official paper belong to general Ravalomanana Richard, commander in chief of the national state police department, Rakotondratsima Désiré, number one of the national police department, general Ndriarijaona André, number one of the armed forces, general Randrianazary, Secretary of State for the national state police, Rakotondrazaka Arsène, home security minister, and general Rakotoarimasy André Lucien, armed forces minister.
