Speaking on behalf of the three mobilities opposed to Andry Rajoelina's de facto government, former president Albert Zafy renewed his call to resume the four party talks around the negotiation table. He pointed at the fake pretexts put forth in order to avoid the meeting.

Albert Zafy: the three mobilities joining hands to save Maputo I and II

The Ravalomanana, Zafy and Ratsiraka mobilities are keeping on speaking with the voice of consensus. “The three mobilities are teaming together to save Maputo I and II “. Albert Zafy, spokesman as Raiamandreny, has been slamming the Rajoelina mobility and its parade to turn away from its duty. “The four mobilities are bound by the agreements of Maputo I “, recalled the former president.

“Andry Rajoelina is wrong if he believes to be superior”, emphasized Albert Zafy. The three other mobilities have never been recognizing the TGV de facto authority either before or after Maputo I. Without a consensus, Andry Rajoelina is to remain a self proclaimed president from the Place of May 13th and empowered by a fringe of the army back on March 17th 2009. “Ravalomanana, Ratsiraka, Zafy and Rajoelina are standing on the same equal footing as mobility chief”, said the professor.

The three mobilities are turning the charter of values proposed by himself Maputo against Andry Rajoelina, according to which, agreements have to be respected by those who signed up. According to Albert Zafy, there was a contract stipulating all four parties’ commitment to collaborate in the transition’s leadership.

“When we discussed the argument between Ravalomanana and Rajoelina, there’s been a witnessed agreement to halt the lawsuits against Marc Ravalomanana’s supporters, as well as demonstrations against Rajoelina on the Magro square…” recalled Albert Zafy, reminding besides, that rallies in Ankorondrano had been immediately suspended.

The former president is regretting that arrests are still occurring and even worse, that they are occurring with violence. He is, thus, denouncing intimidations and harassment directed against opponents to the imposed transition.  “Insecurity is stemming from the Rajoelina mobility “, confirmed Albert Zafy.

“If Andry Rajoelina wants the country to recover peace and stability, he has got to return to the negotiation table, and beg for forgiveness for non respect of word given as a responsible adult (could he ever be taught what that is)”, said the professor. Albert Zafy is denouncing the Rajoelina mobility’s hit and run strategy. “They always find an excuse one day or another, either by saying that they are prepared to meet but have to cancel because of an agenda issue, or by hiding behind the unrests caused by demonstrations “, he argued.

For the three mobilities, demonstrations repressed with force by the de facto transition’s regime, should not swerve minds from the main target, the quickest way out of from the crisis through the national union path. As the deadline of September 9th has been overtaken for the setting of the Transition’s institutions, international sanctions as a response to the confirmed unconstitutional government change could be falling after September 16th, 2009.
