Some army reservists step up. They affirm that the High Authority of Transition didn't hold its word and therefore they threat to struggle for their "rights."

army reservists grumble

Several hundreds strong men met in a building in the southern surroundings of the capital city. The reservists, who partly supported Rajoelina’s movement, and contributed to make him the current president of the Transition after the military Coup in March, display a certain disappointment.

Their spokesman stated that the HAT didn’t honour its promises. The reservists who militated for Andry Rajoelina and his team’s takeover currently feel rather let down and frustrated, especially while hearing that soldiers got a reward for” job done “.

They expect for a gesture from the HAT. Otherwise the reservists threaten “to go down to the streets” or” to enlarge the ranks of Marc Ravalomanana’s supporters”  who require the return to legality and who keep on gathering on the Magro on a daily basis.

Anyway the situation is embarrassing for the putschist regime, knowing the role played by the reservists during the political crisis of 2002. The military pacification operations which succeeded in 2002, allowing Marc Ravalomanana to settle his authority on the whole territory, were indeed owned to the reservists.

In 2009, Andry Rajoelina also called for the reservists to support his ” orange revolution “. These former militaries didn’t finally play a big role, the rebel soldiers from the CAPSAT base did indeed the job to oust Marc Ravalomanana, thereafter constrained to exile.
