Political parties which jointly signed the roadmap expected to settle the crisis have put fifteen runners up forth as potential prime minister. Five of them are from the Opposition. Andry Rajoelina, the transitional leader, tackled consultations with them.

Fifteen candidates longing for being Prime Minister: may the tournament begin

Candidates´ names were published on October 19th: Manandafy Rakotonirina, Pierrot Rajaonarivelo, Jose Vianey, Naika Eliane, Monique Andreas Esoavelomandroso, Botozaza Pierrot, Beriziky Omer, Monja Roindefo, Alain Tehindrazanarivelo, Virapin Ramamonjisoa, José Rakotomavo, Manantsoa Victor, Robert Razaka, Robson Jean Victo and Befeno Todimanana.

The choice of the next prime minister itself is a cause for much concern. Most of the candidates are actually presented by Rajoelina´s allies. This is definitely not complying with the recently signed roadmap by Madagascar´s political groups. The Ravalomanana made it clear, that no appointment of any prime minister would be accepted, could the nominee not be presented by the Opposition. In other words, the next prime minister will have to be part of the Ravalomanana or Zafy spheres or eventually from the Monima party. These candidates are: Manandafy Rakotonirina, Naika Eliane and Botozaza Pierrot from the Ravalomanana sphere, Monja Roindefo from the Monima party and Beriziky Omer from the Zafy sphere.

Another issue is, besides, longing for a solution. Which contribution are the SADC´s troika´s mediators expecting to bring in to the appointment process, bearing in mind that disagreement are surfacing at the very primal stage?
