The new Transition's Prime minister officially enters the palace of Mahazoarivo. Power transfer with predecessor, Monja Roindefo, took place on November 13th in a fair climate.

Government of Transition: Prime minister Eugene Mangalaza gets settled

Monja Roindefo, outgoing Prime minister of the High Authority of Transition, forced out of   form the way of Didier Ratsiraka mobility’s “national unity” Prime Minister, qualified the transfer as having occurred “in a pure republican way”.

“Why was he kicked out?” chanted a crowd of partisans for Monja Roindefo outside the palace of Mahazoarivo at the end of the power ceremony. In an electoral pre-campaign climate, Monja Roindefo has been invited by his partisans to entertain with the crowd outside the palace.

Monja Roindefo had nothing left against the principle of a transfer since the signature of the power sharing agreement between the four political leaders implied in negotiations over resolution of the Malagasy crisis. This transfer is, according to Monja Roindefo “one first step toward the return to constitutional order”.

After some weeks of struggle with the president of the transition, Andry Rajoelina, the Prime minister of the HAT gave in and silently hit the road, end of story. He was keen on specifying that his commitment in the transitional process remains unblurred. “A Man of State is always at the nation’s service” concluded Roindefo. Fair play happens to be merely for the cameras though. Let down by his brother-in-arm, the chief of the HAT government had to leave this time around. The show must go on but he is clearly intending to wait for his time. The welcome from his supporters in front of the palace’s gates is a strong defying message.
