The African Union's Peace and Security Council drafted a chart of figures from the High Authority of Transition concerned by international sanctions for turning down the implementation of agreements signed in Maputo and Addis-Ababa as a solution to the political crisis.

High Authority of Transition: 109 political figures targeted by international sanctions

The African Union targeted civilian as well as military figures. The HAT leader, Andry Rajoelina, and some members of his Cabinet are obviously topping the cart. Camille Vital and his government and their military allies in command are as so naturally in for it. So are members of the High Constitutional Court.

Travels abroad are basically denied to the punished people. The African Union’s Peace and Security Council also voted the freezing of their assets abroad as well as their diplomatic isolation.

During the latest days, the members of the HAT have been belitteling these targeted sanctions’ relevance. Some voices labeled them as “symbolic sanctions”. Many others are expecting renewed retaliation against the opposition’s political mobilities seemingly “delighted” by the capitalization of these sanctions.
