The three mobilities' delegation members previously involved in the third Maputo summit will potentially have to fly by different African citiesbefore heading for the Great Isle. Talks are in progress.

Maputo III: Negotiations to allow delegations back

Acting diplomats in Antananarivo would have met the transitional president, Andry Rajoelina, in order to convince it to allow the three mobilities’ delegations back in Antananarivo.

An order emerging from the ministry for Transport currently puts a ban on any flight between Madagascar and Mozambique; hence the Didier Ratsiraka, Albert Zafy and Marc Ravalomanana delegation members had to extend their stay in Maputo. They are 28 individuals, of which three journalists, in expectation for their” repatriation» in the Mozambican capital city.

The delegation members do not yet show evidence of panic. The forced exile imposed to the three mobilities’ delegation members is also condemned by some of Rajoelina’s partisans. Others are, on the contrary, supporting the necessity to back their return home in order to “ease” their arrest. No confirmation on the potential existence of a warrant against figures from the different political mobilities has yet been made public for the time being.

In Antananarivo, total confusion prevails. Civilian society members protested against the ban to go home against the three mobilities’ delegations, a decision considered as a violation of human rights.
