President Ravalomanana confirmed that his recovery of home soil would be coming true on Saturday February 19th, 2011 in order to contribute to the settlement of the crisis. Outraged by a failed campaign of various deterrents, the empowered "putsch makers" are denouncing "provocations" and announcing "measures" to be taken against this president expected to be lost in exile.

Marc Ravalomanana: “I’ll go back to Madagascar”

During a videoconference, Marc Ravalomanana, currently in exile in South Africa recalled that he is still Madagascar`s president elected in 2007 according to Malagasy constitution. “I will be back in Madagascar” he confirmed, while proudly showing his plane ticket. The contribution to the settlement of the crisis is this decision´s incentive according to his speech. Besides, it actually does coincide with the mediators`return in the island.

Marc Ravalomanana does believe that only talks between Malagasy are able to settle the crisis. “There won’t be any international recognition as long as we Malagasy keep on failing to talk with each other”, he insisted. The Ravalomanana sphere are expecting the poles to decide whether their leader deposed by an illegal military supported putsch, is actually being rejected by the whole of the Malagasy population or not.

Andry Rajoelina basically wanted to cast all of the former presidents aside when announcing his absence from the presidential race´s line up, but things have been changing. He certainly became chief of state thorugh a single municipal election, and the support of “pirates” wearing military uniforms, and “legally” became a transitional leader through the manipulation of the constitution through a controversial referendum, which allows him to run the presidential race by the same way.

The next question is necessarily: are the other political sphere leaders compelled to run the race too? Marc Ravalomanana declared to have nothing against Andry Rajoelina´s candidacy, together with his eagerness to challenge him in elections. Rajoelina does absolutely not dare taking the same stand, and appears rather willing to keep away from any legal confrontation.

The dictating regime´s leader is holding the potential come back of the one who was toppled by one part of the armed forces as ” a provocation ” comparing it to Ben Ali´s utopic return to Tunisia or Mobarak in Egypt, pretending that the Arabian revolution made an example out of the putsch led by a self proclaimed mayor.

Andry Rajoelina threatens to use the army against president Ravalomanana again and addressed the balance of forces. “In 2009”, he had the power and prefered to flee, and now he would dare coming back, would he? “, challenged the country´s young master.  “The power is going to take its responsibilities” he reiterated while labelling the president as ” someone condemned “.

The HAT is definitely feeling threatened by a potential rise of the legalistic army, likely to be boosted by the president´s come back and driven to rebel against the putsch makers. The HAT´s defense minister promised sanctions up to exclusion to any military intended to give allegiance to the latest elected armed forces´chief. Two years after its rise, the dictating power is still reduce to clearing for action and thrilling. If Marc Ravalomanana does come back, retaliation from the power is to be expected on Malagasy soil.
