The vice-president of the High Authority of Transition, Roland Ratsiraka, wants, just as may political figures would, finish this transition off as early as possible, through short term elections.

New Transition: Roland Ratsiraka calling upon moderation

A growing number of politicians are admitting that the Transition born by the Addis-Ababa  Additional Act would be too much restricting on the long term. Roland Ratsiraka, vice-president of the High Authority of Transition since the Coup of mid-March, is part of those thinking that presidential elections must be organized within the next six months.

The organization of a presidential election should grant a democratically elected president to the Great Isle in time for the celebration of the fiftieth birthday of Madagascar’s independence on June 26th, 2010. It is currently the common ambition of all political parties.

Roland Ratsiraka, unsuccessful but first runner up anyway in the 2006 presidential elections, wants his next round, on his own or through his uncle, Didier, former president, clearly intending to recover the Lion’s share. Didier Ratsiraka, the Arema party’s founding father, is displaying more and more hurry to return in the political arena, in spite of his health problems.

According to the vice-president of the HAT, everyone involved in the Transition must show evidence of moderation instead of keeping on reviving political tensions. Without moderation, the Transition is likely to turn into drama, even more since the executive sphere is directed by three different figures from three different political mobilities.

The first clarification meeting between the president of the Transition, Andry Rajoelina, and both Co Presidents, Fetison Andrianirina and Emanuel Rakotovahiny, has taken place peacefully.
