One more legalistic parliamentarian behind bars

Another parliamentarian close to the president in exile, Marc Ravalomanana, is turning in behind bars. Naike Eliane has been arrested in a capital city hotel on Saturday September 12th, before being held in custody at the state police brigade facility in Betongolo.

Submitted to the public prosecutor’s office on Monday September 14th, the former Senator has immediately been convicted. Judicial authorities, however, have rather use the words “house arrest”, because Naike Eliane has been incarcerated in Manjakandriana, in a female prison recently enhanced from top to bottom, about forty kilometers away to the East of the capital city.

There has been a general outcry raised from the camp of Marc Ravalomanana’s partisans since the arrest of the former parliamentarian. Naike Eliane is charged for namely breach of public order and for vandalism. She is actually suspected of being behind the unrests in the center of Antananarivo city, when Marc Ravalomanana’s partisans attempted to access the forbidden “place of democracy”. The demonstrations ended with clashes with the police forces.

On Sunday, the operational mixed headquarters had let known that more arrests are going to take place before long. A list of wanted figures is circulating across the High Authority of Transition’s armed forces. An official press conference is being expected though the previous once has been pointed at due to multiple breaches of the investigation secret and especially of the presumption of innocence.

According to Marc Ravalomanana’s partisans the indictment of Naike Eliane and the projected arrests are an opened violation of the Maputo agreements. The four mobilities, including that of Andry Rajoelina, have actually agreed on halting the political arrests for the sake of reconciliation and appeasement.
