The Special Electoral Court has issued the final composition of the presidential elections' starting line, following one last review of the latest requests. One new candidate is in for the race, namely Hery Rajaonarimampianina, the acting transitional finance minister. He replaces Kolo Roger and Jules Etienne, both of them rejected by the Special Electoral Court. In accordance with a lately introduced electoral rule, candidates rejected by the Special Electoral Court renewed filtration are allowed to appoint someone else to take their place over.

So is Hery Rajaonarimampianina the transitional leader’s umpteenth ally entering the presidential race. The elections might well come true this year, as a consequence, and Andry Rajoelina’s supporters happen to stand many chances to claim the title. Since her plea got rejected by the Special Electoral Court, Lalao Ravalomanana is once for all out. Rajoelina is now free to make a choice between three candidates to support, whereas  Marc Ravalomanana, stunned by the elimination of the former first lady, has no one yet up his sleeve. As for the International Community, satisfaction is in the air, for the time being. Joaquim Chissano, the Mozambican mediator in chief currently paying a short visit to Madagascar, welcomed the Special Electoral Court’s latest decision, although much of a large share of the home political class grumbles over the evolution of the situation
