The political prisoners' situation has not changed in anything at all. Ever since the signature of the additional agreement in Addis-Abeba, no political detainee has been freed. The pro-Ravalomanana former deputy, Raharinaivo Andrianantoandro is keen on attracting widespread public attention on their case.

Raharinaivo Andrianantoandro: A hunger strike to catch the authorities’ attention

About forty partisans of the ousted president, Marc Ravalomanana, are behind bars following events linked to the Malagasy crisis. The signature of the additional agreement in Addis-Abeba has, for the time being, brought no change to their fate.

Former parliamentarian from the party of Marc Ravalomanana and spokesman of the TIM party, Raharinaivo Andrinantoandro, started a hunger strike in the evening of November 15th in order to capture the Transition’s focus.

Raharinaivo Andrianantoandro is being kept in custody since mid-September. Nearly forty partisans of Marc Ravalomanana are equally behind the bars because of the political crisis. Raharinaivo is currently in hospital for health reasons. Fetison Andrianirina, Transition’s Co President, and Mamy Rakotoarivelo, President of the Transition’s Congress, have paid a visit to the former parliamentarian in the morning of November 16th.

“I am going to address the Justice minister, and know why political prisoners are not yet freed” confirmed Fetison Andrianirina. Besides, he was keen on recalling that Andry Rajoelina did not need to wait for very long to free incarcerated politicians when he was president of the HAT.
