Mara Niarisy, the transition´s politician and parliamentarian is for the reconciliation through concerted talks between the eight major Malagasy politicians as the long term solution to crisis. The point is unprecedented, has so far not that much popularity.

Reconciliation: What if Mara Niarisy got it right?

These eight major figures actually got key roles in each of Madagascar´s crisis. They are the three former presidents, Marc Ravalomanana, Didier Ratsiraka, Albert Zafy, the currently imposed transition, Andry Rajoelina, and four major political leaders: Manandafy Rakotonirina, Richard Andriamanjato, Norbert Ratsirahonana and Marson Evariste.

“At least one of these figures was involved in each and every political crisis which led to casualties in Madagascar.” recalled Mara Niarisy.

Manandafy Rakotonirina seems to be entitled to the regular´s golden medal. He has had his nose in political conflicts, in 1972, in 1991, in 2002 and in 2009. Didier Ratsiraka was the odd one to be removed in 1991 and in 2002. Marc Ravalomanana challenged him in 2002, before being pushed out by a putsch directed by Andry Rajoelina in 2009. Evariste Marson and Ratsirahonana are now Rajoelina´s collaborators, for having turned their back on Marc Ravalomanana. Richard Andriamanjato was especially active in 1991 and on the eve of the independence day in 1960. His son, Ny Hasina, is minister within the present transitional government.
