Manandafy Rakotonirina has been freed on August 24, on the eve of the second political meeting monitored by the international community in Maputo.

The legalistic Prime minister set free

Put under house arrest by the HAT militaries by end of April, Manandafy Rakotonirina has been freed in accordance with the Maputo agreements.

Appointed Prime minister in April by Marc Ravalomanana after his departure in exile, Manandafy has been remaining in the sight of Andry Rajoelina’s team which snatched the power back in mid-March.

Manandafy Rakotonirina, as well as other recently freed political prisoners, will take part into the Maputo Summit under the Ravalomanana mobility’s colours. This MFM party leader has already been supposed to participate in the first summit in Maputo, but the signature of agreements by the four mobility chiefs happened to be necessary to have him recover his freedom.

The HAT justice minister, Christine Razanamahasoa, emphasized that Manandafy Rakotonirina has been granted a temporary release.

Anyway, the Ravalomanana mobility is expecting for the release of about thirty other prisoners arrested at the time of the political crisis, in accordance with the Maputo agreements.
