The Red Cross offers one meal for 100 Ariary to the resourceless

In all, 21 canteens have been installed in the first capital city’s district since July 13. The underprivileged districts have been targeted more especially. Every canteen is able to deliver 300 meals per day. This amounts to 6300 daily meals in the whole first district. 

This Red Cross project benefited from a French embassy’s financing in Antananarivo, which amounts to 2 millions of euros. The local Red Cross however had to mobilize some 250.000 euros to concretize the project.  

The meal price is fixed to the moderate sum of 100 Ariary. Besides, the canteens would have to provide a certain nutritional education to the targeted population. At present, the popular canteens are exclusively opened for lunch. A puff of oxygen anyway for the vulnerable layer of the population from Antananarivo’s first district
