The SADC’s extraordinary session called upon the former president Marc Ravalomanana to be allowed back home, while suggesting that both main political decision makers in this crisis keep away from running the incoming presidential elections. The proposal causes the stir.

The SADC’s «neither… nor » merely as a proposal and in no way a must

As per usual, the SADC’s resolution is being interpreted in different ways, according to the each and everyone’s political interests. The use of the English word “persuade” is, this time around, causing the debate. Both leading figures in this crisis will actually have to “be persuaded to keep away from running the elections”. Former President Marc Ravalomanana’s supporters rather focus on and stick, for the time being, to the SADC’s decision of granting him free, safe and unconditional return home. The way things would develop later on would depend on the famous local evolution of the situation. Rajoelina’s supporters have not yet officially expressed any precise point. Their champion is likely to make his participation to the year 2013’s electoral race public very soon.
