Ultimatum: The sanctions topping the headlines

All of the members of the High Authority of Transition reiterated their defiance against the eventual African Union and international community led sanctions. But the countdown to March 16th is everytime on top of addressed topics. 

“I am not afraid of a sanction” pioneered Andry Rajoelina. “My greatest fears are sanctions from God, from my parents and from no one else” boldly declared the HAT education minister, Julian Razafimanazato. 

On first thought, the resigning Foreign Office minister would allegedly be the single coward of the herd. Ny Hasina Andriamanjato would have contacted officials from the Malagasy crisis’ mediation team in order to be withdrawn from the red list of figures to be targeted by international sanctions. Visa denials and assets freezing are, so far, being evoked.  

The population generally fears the backlashes of Madagascar’s diplomatic isolation in its everyday life. THe most painful stroke has so far been the suspension of a significant amount of foreign support which irretrievably caused development project suspensions and job losses. Let Madagascar’s eligibility to the AGOA deal not be forgotten, for having killed many corporations’ business with the United States, as well as thousand times more jobs.
