The Rajoelina party withdraws from the negotiations. Pressed by the HAT, Andry Rajoelina confirmed this withdrawal motivated by the fear of president Ravalomanana's return in the country.

Withdrawal from negotiations: Andry Rajoelina tries to justify

Andry Rajoelina finally steps backwards and gives in to his supporters’ willingness to withdraw from the political negotiations. On the day following his party’s promise to sign the charter of the transition, the president of the HAT confirmed this withdrawal. The invoked motive is the alleged “swindle” because the negotiations have been centered for a long time on the amnesty and the president Ravalomanana’s return in the country, to the prejudice of the agreed topics from scratch.

The Rajoelina party finds no more interest in these negotiations; on the contrary, the possible president Ravalomanana’s return becomes a serious problem. It expected some kind of recognition from the International mediation’s presence. “The international Community had consulted me for the setting up of a consensual government and a charter to sign by all parties “, recalled Andry Rajoelina to prove his good will. He would have received the guarantee that” no one thinks that president Ravalomanana’s return in the country is a solution “.

The president of the HAT therefore resets the odds. He insisted on the TIM party’s engagement would have taken as only ruling “Dada’s return” out of a solution. He explained the reason for which he had sent his representatives to the Carlton. “The discussion doesn’t mean that what will be decided will be accepted. We listen to the opposition, the opposition is currently the TIM party “, he has added.

“Five months of discussions, no result “, regretted Andry Rajoelina. He emphasized that the charter had to define the involvement of all sides to the conduct of the national business. “What is amnesty? Dada’s return is constantly evoked (Marc Ravalomanana), why only the amnesty, and nothing else?” wondered the president of the HAT. He even shortly mentioned of a “referendum” on the question in Morondava. “is the return of a murderer and a thief (Sic) a solution to the crisis “, a  shy “No” has been whispered, revealing the problematic nature of the question.

On the HAT side, the word victory is preferred to Coup. The ousting of the Ravalomanana regime by the army that finished off what the fruitless popular movement began is the basis of a supposedly democratic regime. The government even takes a virtual majority and a never-failing illegitimacy, of the pretensions that are not recognized in the mediation context driven by the international contact Group between the four parties.
