The poor interest for the basically joyful 50th birthday of Madagascar's independence might alter. Andry TGV recovers his entertainer's skills. The national day is being turned into a musical party which somehow relegates the currently empty creed in second tier : national pride and patriotism.

June 26th: merriments and international stars to mask the crisis

The Malagasy people’s poor interest for the 50th celebration of the independence reminds that the country is still deeply engulfed in the political crisis. The authorities are finding it hard to convince each and everyone to hang the national flag outdoor. The HAT members patched up the campaign from Madagascar’s alleged new independence from financial support, and making a living from the  exploitation of its mining resources.

June 26th, 2010 is being held as a milestone by the HAT and Andry Rajoelina himself. The chief of the authoritarian regime had promised a new elected president before the independence’s 50th birthday. Then, the basic promise turned into the potential settlement of the political crisis or any correct organization of the national conference. Dead duck again. In order to reach citizens, the HAT enacted that June 26th would be the celebration of the recovery of Madagascar’s independence. Even the semantic detail is failing to go down in history, as the opponents to the dictating authority are denouncing of the French protectorate after a 50 years long break.

Let the merriments begin

Too bad for the national day definitely dented by the on going crisis. Let the party begin. The former DJ and entertainer Andry TGV is tackling a large scale show. Those who had criticized far too early at the announcement of the invitation of the Kassav band will be convinced. The young Malagasy authority is paying for international stars cheered by… the youth. The rap or r’n’b Brick and Lace singers will be in Antananarivo’s party. Though being less famed in Madagascar, the America rapper Big Ali might have an impact by  presenting the “original” version of a song very much loved by the young city-dwellers.

After having deprived his fans from Johnny Hallyday on putsch related reasons, Andry Rajoelina is straining to recover lost ground. France will be represented by the singer Nadya, who is as French as the football player Zidane. The Caribbean band Kassav is expected to be in. For the general audience, or rather a lowly people not necessarily in the day’s trend, the HAT offers a gift named Awilo. The Congolese singer is likely to make the evening party hot.

The Malagasy artists got their share of it too. Rossy is still on the front stage even though he has not recovered his past days’ glory. The variety singers, rock bands, gospel singers and folk artists are mobilized for the independence’s 50th birthday party. In spite of very much Andry TGV like trend, the organization committee maintains the June 26th’s tradition: the traditional music’s merriments and the Hira gasy. A big carnival, shows throughout the capital city’s districts from folk artists, musicians and bands will be on the floor. The independence show’s main attraction would be the sounds and light spectacle in duet with the traditional fireworks.
