At ten kilometers of Ambalavao, in the center of the country, heading towards the Andringitra mountains, the traveler finds himself in a scenery worth the Wild West. It is a surprising landscape that we discover, with surfaces covered with impressive bushes and beautiful mountains overlooking the plains.
The contact with the local population is a discovery by itself. The villages are becoming scarce as we advance toward the mass of Andringitra but it is common, especially on the day of weekly markets to find a huge crowd in the different localities of the region. The villagers are ready to walk dozens of kilometers, often washed down with large quantities of rum from the local manufactures.
During the trip, one can admire one of the best scenery of the Grand Island, with its rice fields, its vast plains and rock masses in the surrounding area.
