magical days for Madagascar’s handicraft in Nice

« Madagascar, magical land », is the third edition of the event Days of Madagascar in Nice. To the program, exhibitions, sales but also economic and cultural conferences.

Some typically Malagasy products are presented in Nice. The Meva association sticked to several domains where the identity of the Great Isle is strong. It is among others about the plant fibbers based products, jewellery, textile, ironworks, cosmetics… The association insures the training craftsmen improving their productivity and the quality of their products.

Meva contributes to displaying a positive snapshot of the country. It also has an economic role by trying to attract investors. The association is very active in the promotion of the exchanges, export and import concerning handicraft. By the fairs to which it participates and Madagascar’s days organized abroad, it allowed small Madagascan operators to establish commercial contacts with foreign partners.

The Bmoi is a faithful partner for Meva. Since the first edition of the Days of Madagascar in France, the bank brought its support to craftsmen to help them reach the international market. It is motivated by the recovery shots displayed by operators in the crisis context. For Orange, Meva association’s other partner, showing solidarity toward people with initiatives is the most relevant.

The days of Madagascar have a real economic stake for the Malagasy craftsmen. The results from the first two editions are encouraging. The contracts dealt with foreign operators add up to several thousands of euros. This year, the handicraft market endured the absence of tourists during the first semester. Export is more than ever paramount for the sector. This doesn’t hinder the event Days of Madagascar from being a promotion platform for destination Madagascar.
