The talks in the Ethiopian capital city, Addis-Abeba, took place despite the absence of two political mobilities. A meeting "on top" supposed to involve the four political mobility chiefs in the negotiation cycle has actually been decided.

Way out of from the crisis: a meeting of four mobility chiefs foreseen

The record is about to be beaten. Madagascar will soon enter its seventh month of crisis. The population is visibly getting tired. The International Contact Group in charge of the mediation between the political mobilities isn’t, and doesn’t want to give up.

Some already call the appointment of Addis-Abeba, July 22nd, as a « total disaster « . Others still remain optimistic, and keep hope to find soon a peacefull and consensual way out of from the Madagascan crisis.

From a mission to another, the African mediators don’t want to let down and give in to the dead end. The mobility of the High Authority of Transition’s president Andry Rajoelina and that of the ex-president Albert Zafy boycotted the Addis-Ababa meeting. Two mobilities out of four, those of the president in exile Marc Ravalomanana and of the ex-chief of state Didier Ratsiraka, have then been represented in Addis-Abeba.

In Ethiopia, the mediator appointed by the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Joaquim Chissano did his best to make the situation evolve.

A assessment mission is therefore foreseen, once again, in Madagascar from July 28th.

By the beginning of August, a meeting between Andry Rajoelina, Marc Ravalomanana, Didier Ratsiraka and Albert Zafy is programmed in Mozambique. The meeting’s purpose between the four men is not pre defined. Each and everyone’s confirmation will then have to be expected within the next few days .
