The young president of the High Authority of Transition had enough of the international community's pressure. He decided to put an end to negotiations with the other political mobilities.

Andry Rajoelina puts an end to negotiations

Confident. So does the HAT’ president actually feel. There is nothing to negotiate, the Transition is already in place « , he said during a tour in the region of Toliara (South). While recognizing that some difficulties remain, Andry Rajoelina sustained that the Transition will go on with its roadmap.

Logically, following his boycott of the Addis-Ababa meeting on July 22nd monitored by the international community, the young putschist had to take a definitive and firm decision. His mobility is the first to have taken the initiative to put an end to the talks.

Although, by the beginning of August a meeting « on top level » is planned between the four political negotiating mobility chiefs to find an exit from the Malagasy crisis. From July 28th, an international contact group’s assessment mission is expected in Madagascar to prepare the meeting.

Long before the appointment of August, Andry Rajoelina announced his true colours. The other mobilities haven’t so far reacted to the HAT president’s thundering statement. Neither has the international community.

The team of mediators in the Madagascan crisis, driven by the Mozambican ex-president Joaquim Chissano decided to gather around the same table Andry Rajoelina, the president in exile Marc Ravalomanana, and the two other ex-chiefs of state, Didier Ratsiraka and Albert Zafy.

The international community insists on a Transition’s charter which should allegedly come up to power sharing. But the HAT, in position by force, says different. The meeting « on top level » is already threatened.
