The national unity Prime minister, Eugene Mangalaza, has been bluntly fired by the president of the HAT, few hours following his landing on home soil. A military from Toliara (South) is taking over.
All institution’s chiefs empowered by the Maputo and Addis-Ababa agreements have also been dismissed, namely, both Co Presidents of the Transition, Fetison Andrianirina and Emanuel Rakotovahiny, the president of the National Reconciliation Council, Albert Zafy, as well as the president of the Convention, Mamy Rakotoarivelo. The latter has already been expelled from the National Assembly’s building by soldiers faithful to the High Authority of Transition, on December 21st.
Those successive events are definitely hammering the last nail in the Maputo and Addis-Ababa agreements’ coffin. The Didier Ratsiraka, Albert Zafy and Marc Ravalomanana mobilities are jointly contesting Rajoelina and his band’s moves, officially labelled as « unilateral initiatives ».
The future former Prime Minister Eugene Mangalaza has, for the time being, remained inside the palace of Mahazoarivo. The new chief of the HAT government, Camille Vital, put a reassuring face up. « The country has a hard time » it acknowledged. Colonel Camille Vital insured that his mission will be the organization of elections, the reconciliation of the Malagasy people and the restoration of security.
