Following the Central Bank of Madagascar’s instruction concerning the improvement process of money circulation services in the country, all the banks operating in Madagascar will have to make available in their Automated Teller Machine (ATM) software the 2000Ar banknote. According to the instruction, the primary banks, which are the principal actors of money distribution in Madagascar, are the first to guarantee the fair distribution of every banknote to the public. It is important to note that up to now, the banks’ ATM makes available only the 10.000Ar and 5.000Ar banknotes. It is then just impossible for one to withdraw from these machines an amount of money containing notes that are inferior to 5.000Ar. Thus, in order to improve that situation, the Central Bank of Madagascar instructed all primary banks to integrate in their ATM software the 2000Ar banknote starting from October, 1, 2010. The Central Bank’s instruction also stated the integration in the ATM of other banknotes in later time.
