Growing tensions at Antananarivo’s university

The situation is increasingly precarious. Students have come up to want the Superior Education minister out, and some of them even demonstrated their anger in the surrounding streets.

The administration’s staff was basically the one which shot first; the reason: delayed pay checks. Professors emulated on the same account. All of that inevitably got an impact on students, which now decided to join the movement.

The university’s vice president, Jean Eric Rakotoarisoa, emphasized that the university’s staff members must be entitled to their wage in the same time as any other civil servant, and reminded that this claim for salary was the 6th consecutive one since the beginning of the year 2009
