Land disputes in Tsarakofaka Toamasina leading to arsons

The incident occurred on Tuesday in Mahazoarivo Tsarakofaka. According to various reports, a certain group of dangerously rated people claiming the concerned land’s ownership would have set facilities alight. The occupation of this area would have been challenged on the previous week by the land’s supposed owner, but resistance from the multiple occupiers finally led to this tragic end for no less than 200 affected houses scattered across 661 Ha of contested lands. Up to this hour, the exact number of affected households is not yet available though. The Eastern Region’s chief himself had to personally address the issue, and 8 persons have, for the time being, been arrested. The investigation is to be continued
