Weather observation stations: renovations are underway

A budget of about 380 000 Euros will be allocated to the renovation project of 11 existing weather observation stations in Madagascar. This is was actually the settled agreement that came out of the interview between Eric Razafimandimby, Minister of Public Works and Meteorology, and a delegation of the foreign commission in charge of the realization of this major project in the country.

During the interview, the Minister informed that this project will aim on improving the collection of meteorological information across the country. That Information will subsequently play a pivot role in choosing the better sites to implement the various infrastructures in the country in the future. Still according to him, the other purpose of this project will ensure better collection and processing of weather forecasting at those renovated stations.

According to one member of the delegation, Richard Thigpen who works in the Global Climate Observing System (a World Meteorological Organization), Madagascar has an important role in the field of meteorological observation. He also informed that the funds to be used in realizing the project come from the Dutch government.
