TEDx Antananarivo 2011: the project, “4AWOMAN”, will be spread around the world

Madagascar will be among the countries that will host the event called Ted (Technology, Entertainment and Design). Being considered as a platform for ideas, the Ted conference brings together several worldwide well-known personalities. During the event called TEDx Antananarivo 2011, approximately 6 000 members of the Ted event will be connected together on online through its website www.ted.com. The Great Island will host this year the third edition of the event, whose main theme covers the project aiming to fight against breast and gynecological cancer which is initiated by the Akbaraly Foundation. As a sharing of ideas and a global conferencing system, TEDx Antananarivo will be attended by several important personalities from around the world and some specialists on the chosen theme. It is to be noted that the first edition of the event in Madagascar took place in 1992 and the second edition in 2010.

“We need to reinforce our international partnership concerning the project, “4AWOMAN”, which aims to fight against gynecological cancer that the Akbaraly foundation initiated in 2010. It is for that reason that we decided to organize the conference which is the declination of the TED conference in the U.S. for 25 years now, and that is thanks to the only TED ambassador in Sub-Saharan Region, Harinjaka Ratozamanana”, said the president of that Foundation, Cinzia Akbaraly during her speech at the premiere ceremony of the TEDx event which will be held next May 14 in the “Development Center Learning” at Anosy. The event will have as a title “Ideas for a Women Protection in Africa”, and it will be supported by the mobile telephone and Internet operator, Orange Madagascar, one of the Foundation’s partners in the project “4AWOMAN”. But beyond the fight against breast and gynecological cancer in Madagascar, the event will also be an opportunity to show to the world the country’s potentials.
