Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF) addressed its condolences and sympathy to the staff of Madagascar Matin, Midi Madagasikara and Jery Television, and to the entire Malagasy Press after the series of tragic accidents that occurred between August, 26 and 28, 2011.
On August 26, a young economic journalist of the daily newspaper Madagascar Matin, Stephan Razafitsoa Angelo, aged 30, died suddenly at his home while returning from a training workshop on environment in Ambatolampy.
The next day, the Chief Editor of Midi Madagasikara, Stéphane Jacob (whose real name is Jean-Claude Razafimandimby), was found dead in his apartment, located just in the upper floor of the newspaper’s offices. He suffered from heart problems for years.
Finally, on August 28, Heriniaina Rasoamiaramanana Andrianjafisoa, called Hery, a TV cameraman of the television station, Jery, was killed in a tragic maritime accident in which the Minister of Population, Nadine Ramaroson, and a dozen others also lost their lives. Their speedboat was shipwrecked near Soanierana Ivongo.
