The Civil Aviation of Madagascar launches warning remarks towards the government

Madagascar is among the 13 countries questioned by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Jean Robert Razafy, the Director General of the Civil Aviation of Madagascar, declared last Saturday that the Note to Airmen (NOTAM) has been misused in recent years in Madagascar. And such misuse of NOTAM may further damage the already blurry image of the Big Island.

At the same time, this error may further damage the image of the Civil Aviation of Madagascar, which is already in the ICAO’s bad books. If the government continues to make the same mistakes and uses the NOTAM for non-aeronautical ends, indirect sanctions could be taken against the Madagascar.

Jean Robert Razafy indicated that « The Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) has a NOTAM international office in Antananarivo. If they get bored about the way  we use this tool, or about the interference of the government or other authorities in its use, ASECNA will surely end up by closing the office. And we will not have our say ». His concern is all the greater concerning the fact that Madagascar is already among the 13 countries out of the 190 on the list of the Review Board, Assistance and Monitoring of the ICAO.
