Fatma Samoura, the United Nations’ spokeswoman in Madagascar, has called upon the International Community to support Madagascar’s Electoral Cycle Program (locally named PACEM). A meeting with the local national electoral commission took place on October 22nd. The way to go remains long, in spite of everyone’s high spirits. Not a single sign points towards a successful presidential election to be completed on May, 8th.
The elections supposed to take place in Madagascar in 2013 will require some US$ 66 billions and not the basic US$ 71 billion. Small discount on the elections granted after a reassessment. Still, everything remains just as certain as before. Switzerland, Norway and the European Union promised some €15 million, and the United States have not yet declared anything.
