A new military chief in the presidents cabinet.

According to the Nouvelles, ?Last Tuesday at the palace of Ambohitsorohitra several nominations for highly placed government posts were considered by the cabinet. Four ministries were most concerned by these nominations, including that of the president of the republic, are of particular interest to the military. From here on in, the new cabinet director will be Vice Admiral Mamy Solofoniaina Ranaivoniarivo. He will be the fourth such military officer to have held this post. His predecessors were General Vonison, the whereabouts of who remain unknown. He was the first to hold this office shortly after the incumbent president Marc Ravalomanana came to power. Then there was General René Ramarozatovo who was named to head up BIANCO and lastly there was General Charles Rabemananjara who became the present Minister of the Interior. The official mandate of each of these high functionaries, representatives of the military in the cabinet of the chief of state, has lasted about one year. Mamy Solofoniaina Ranaivoniarivo will probably be the last to take on this responsibility at least until the end of the mandate of the present chief of state of the Republic.
