Recently, Air Madagascar has regained the confidence of partners including banks, insurers and even customers. This airline company is no longer subject to the restrictions of the European Union. This lifting of sanctions is the result of the airline’s improved security through « safety management system ». This program is operated in partnership with the Civil Aviation of Madagascar. In addition, the company has improved the frequency of aircraft maintenance, management of airworthiness and flight safety.
Furthermore, Air Madagascar has officially announced that by March 2012, the company will acquire a new aircraft. This is what Ratsiferana Hughes, General Manager of Air Mad, affirmed during a press conference he gave at his office at Analakely yesterday. Currently, the company has not yet decided on the type of the aircraft, either a Boeing or an Airbus. More precisely, the company is still studying the markets, based on the capacity of the runways and the size of the aircraft. This means that the aircraft will be selected according to the company’s needs.
Currently, there is an overall restructuring of the flight program for the benefit of passengers on domestic flights. This restructuring intends to suppress domestic flights early in the morning and late at night, that is, in order to ensure the safety of the passengers.
Also during the press conference, Air Mad’s General Manager emphasized cooperation with the chambers of commerce and regional tourism offices. Both institutions intend to establish regional flights to Morondava, Toamasina and to Antsohihy. This project contributes to the development of the tourism sector in the Great Island. Apparently, these projects will be implemented by April of the next year.
