“From now on, tourism and handcrafts will be among the flagship domains of the region”, declared yesterday Irène Andreas, the Minister in charge of Tourism and handcrafts during the official inauguration ceremony of a new office for the tourist and handcrafts operators’ association in Ambilobe.
For the time being, there are 18 hotels in Ambilobe. And as for the handcrafts, the recent establishment of the Chamber of Trade allows the region to highlight and to develop more the field. Even though there are still many things to achieve, everybody is quite sure that tourism and handcrafts are two domains deserving close attention.
Besides, Ambilobe disposes innumerable natural and material resources waiting just to be exploited. One of the natural resources that Ambilobe possesses is the thermal spring of Besaika located 30 km away from the town. Through her visit of Besaika’s thermal spring, the Minister, Irène Andreas, revealed her intention to build a thermal swimming pool in that locality. According to the local population, the thermal spring of Besaika is endowed with healing property.
