The fire has wrapped up Andasibe, Vavatenina district’s furthest commune (Analanjorofo province) on Wednesday. According to the latest reports, it all started with a candle literally burnt at both ends. Fire claimed nine king size stores, six rice barns and one casualty, a 7 years old kid. His father was so shaken by the situation that he forgot the sleeping child inside his room made of ravinala leaves, an easy prey for the flames
For lack of firemen ready for action, water had to be tossed bucket after bucket from a far away field by night. The fire was finally turned off though as the whole town joined hands and fought it.
As the commune’s local taxes were recovered from exactly where they were supposed to be, it duly served as first aid support for the area.
In the end, the disaster would have turned out 100 displaced and desperate people. Their spokesman was actually weeping on the phone when uttering on phone line this far cry:” we are calling upon all possible support for the victims of Andasibe, since we are suffering”
