Maputo is raising new hopes for an exit from crisis. All the political mobility chiefs involved in the negotiation should be present in Maputo on August 5th. No one turned the invitation down yet. New hopes are allowed according to the mediators.

Andry Rajoelina accepts to make for Maputo

The Transition’s charter could finally become true. The HAT president, Andry Rajoelina, and ex-president Albert Zafy already confirmed their involvement to the meeting « on top level » programmed in Maputo, according to Joacquim Chissano, mediators’ chief currently present in Antananarivo since July 28th.

Since the Didier Ratsiraka and Marc Ravalomanana camps responded favourably in Addis-Ababa during the latest appointment organized by the International Contact Group, these are likely to do so in Maputo.

Marc Ravalomanana, Didier Ratsiraka, Albert Zafy and Andry Rajoelina, the Great Isle’s four latest leaders and main actors of the political crisis in Madagascar will then have a first opportunity to exchange their points, and to reconcile eventually.

The international community anyhow wants the four mobilities to commit into the talks which would lead to a new « concerted » Transition, prior to new elections.

One week away from the appointment, the International Contact Group keeps on convincing the main concerned. Besides, the present delegation in the Malagasy capital city got on July 30th the opportunity to discuss with civil society and private sector representatives to collect their point. Because, after all, they as well as the rest of the population have been undergoing the very real consequences of the rampaging political crisis since January.
