The Opposition requires the right to freely reopen stations censored by the HAT

Each and every radio and TV station close to the Opposition to the imposed transitional regime have been being brutally turned down since 2009. The latest radio station regularly broadcasting news about the Opposition leaders was closed in 2010. The Opposition is now requiring the HAT to let these stations reopen and freely broadcast, as a prerogative for appeasement and freedom inspired by the crisis settlement´s roadmap. Lire la suite »

Clashes at the University of Antananarivo

They reflect the general social unease. A demonstration of science department students took place at the capital city´s university. Students erected barricades at the campus´ gates. They are requiring their three months of unpaid scholarship. The police´s anti riot squad swiftly addressed the issue. Confrontation could not be avoided. Stones flew over from the student side. Soldiers retaliated with tear gazes and arrested a so named leader. The students are blaming a potential infiltration within their ranks.
