Ravalomanana congratulates the leaders from his TIM party

The reunification of the TIM, former President Marc Ravalomanana's political party, seems looks well on the way. In any case, the Home Affairs Ministry recognizes from now on a single TIM party, chaired by the Razoarimihaja Solofonantenaina. Razoarimihaja Solofonantenaina rises now on the political scene, after an amazing low profile period while the political crisis was reaching its climax in the Great Isle. He is the man to chair the Tiako i Madagasikara political party, according to a decree issued by the Malagasy Interior Ministry. In a press conference, the president of the TIM part merely announced that "the party recovers its rightful owner." As for the Secretary General of the party, Mamy Rakotoarivelo said that "The Interior Ministry got in touch with Razoarimihaja and nobody else to make this decree public" as an evidence of support to the once again unified TIM part. Marc Ravalomanana emulated by phone call. He congratulated the TIM party as a whole for "the welcomed normalization of party." The unification step has recently been actively put forth by the newly reconciled top leaders of the party. Many of the party's major figures broke apart and founded their own parties following the fall of Marc Ravalomanana in 2009. It is now theirs to decide whether a return home is worth the try or not. The great show of June 26th: the President reenacts for lack of news

The Republic's President expressively renewed his commitments voiced in the run of his inauguration and repeated the headlines of his main state policy. On the occasion of his first celebration of June 26th in Madagascar, Hery Rajaonarimampianina exhorted the nation again to reconciliation and solidarity. "The duty entrusted to me is significant, yet I accept it with humility" did he introduce his renewed commitment to meet his good resolutions: "good governance, state of right, transparency, democracy, unbiased justice, fight against corruption and long term viable development." After his first 5 months in charge, nothing has yet been changing as a matter of fact. Read More »

The HVM party and its opponents: the next black sheep of the Parliament

Whereas the most problematic and urgent issues seem to be looked down on by deputies, the National Assembly is on the verge on welcoming a parliamentarian group enlivened by the brand new presidential party, and an Opposition group' spokesman obviously self proclaimed for having no parliamentarian opposition group to speak for. HVM, a presidential party lead by the president’s proxies

The once HVM association mutates into the HVM political party. The pattern has become a trend over the latest presidential mandates. The brand new presidential party openly gravitates about the newly elected as chief of state Hery Rajaonarimampianina. It is topped by proxies and reliable friends of the president. The new party's first target is a success at the upcoming municipal elections for the sake of the conquest of a national basis and a potential pledge for a stronger majority, real or virtual, at the National Assembly. The syndrome of power infects Hery Rajaonarimampianina

The association Hery Vaovao ho an'i Madagasikara (HVM) finally mutated into a standard political party. The time to break free from its previous political family must have come for the new Malagasy president. Still, the transformation of the HVM into a political party does not automatically inspire confidence. The ruling staff would even potentially pay dearly for this move, since it happens to signal a will to keep grip on power, and to battle in the rule of arts if need be. Read More »

Parliament: the political calculation lurking behind the request for a list of personal fortune

Mistrust towards state officials is nowhere near to have withered. The public largely seems to approve the immediate implementation of the famous order 2014-001 which summons all parliament members to draw and deliver a list of their wealth and seriously restricts their immunity. The law draft got passed while the Republic's President still had to fight for a favorable majority at the Assembly. The political canvas is now different, for the executive layer of the ruling cast is in control of its legislative layer; the latter having to fear potential dismissal without notice from the former.

Read More »

Rajaonarimampianina scores much of a major try

With support from the PMP parliamentarian group as well as from previously Rajoelina supportive deputies of the MAPAR group, the Republic's new President succeeded in recovering ground inside the National Assembly's permanent office. Christine Razanamahasoa, a Rajoelina supportive deputy elected as head of the parliament back in February, now has to pack up and leave the stage to Jean Max Rakotomamonjy, a deputy whose allegiance goes to the Leader Fanilo party. Jean Max Rakotomamonjy was elected by all of the deputies who attended the session while the largest part of the MAPAR parliamentarian group stood away. Read More »

National Assembly or Parliamentarian Civil War Zone

When State matters are turned into games, do we still have to be surprised by spotting a remake of the blockbuster Gangs of New York in the local National Assembly? The parliament's facilities are close to become battlegrounds disputed by two opposing parliamentarian groups. In the right corner, the PMP supportive of President Hery Rajaonarimampianina stands tall to the MAPAR in the opposite corner, supportive of Andry Rajoelina. The parliament's new internal rules are the formal bone of contention. The major stake in target is however the process of bringing the parliament's Permanent Office led by the Lower Chamber's Chairwoman down. Christine Razanamahasoa fastens her seat belt and clings to her position. Read More »

The issue of restitution of the Eparses Isles

The SECES (Union of Superior Education Professors-Searchers and Professors-Teachers) together with the SYNCORMAE (Union of Foreign Office Ministry's Bodies) has raised the issue of the still disputed four Malagasy islands Glorieuses, Juan do Nova, Europa and Bassas da India anew, as a way to let it be clear that Malagasy scholars have in no way forgotten about this unfinished business. The conference took place at the Foreign Office's facilities' conference hall. Read More »
