Focus on the Lake of Vontovorona

The lake’s waters are used by the JIRAMA, the national water and electricity supplying company, to supply the surrounding area. Yet, journeys in canoes over its meanders remain possible as well as delightful. Canoe owners usually fish on a daily basis, but gladly offer a tour of the lake to anyone for 5000 or 6000 Ariary. The generally fresh temperatures and the Malagasy central highlands’ countryside’s’ clean winds make tour worth the price. Vontovorona is located about 15 miles away in the west of the capital city. The polytechnic department of the University of Antananarivo has its facilities there.  Roaming across the villages surrounding the lake, or hunting in the nearby woods happen to be the travelers’ alternative favorite hobbies
