GEM and EFOI: establishment of a partnership agreement

In order to improve the business environment in Madagascar, a partnership agreement was signed yesterday between GEM (Group of Companies of Madagascar) and EFOI Madagascar, a platform that gathers Malagasy women entrepreneurs who have expressed interest in collaborating with GEM after becoming aware of the importance of pooling their efforts and finding ways to cope with globalization.  

According to Sylvia Pages, National President of EFOI Madagascar, the country’s development is not only a man’s business and in entrepreneurship, there is no gender discrimination because everyone can participate in economic and social progress of Madagascar. Currently, EFOI Madagascar gathers together 120 companies, small and medium-sized, all led by women. They focus their business lines in services, handicrafts and food processing industries. Service sectors and handicrafts represent respectively 25 and 30 % of their activities.
