JIRAMA Toamasina: Inauguration of a new thermal power plant

Last week, the Prime Minister Camille Vital along with the Minister in charge of Energy, Rodolphe Ramanantsoa, and the General Manager of JIRAMA, Désiré Rasidy, inaugurated together the establishment of a new thermal power plant in Toamasina. This new thermal power plant is composed of 3 generators capable of producing each 6 MW (Megawatts) of power. The total cost of the establishment of the thermal power plant tops 11 Million US Dollars which mostly comes from JIRAMA’s equity capital. However, the Chinese company Fu Lee with the help of some local companies took care of the implementation of the thermal power plant. The 3 new generators can produce together 18 MW of power, allowing Toamasina to have at its disposal a total power of 46, 7 MW. From now on, city of Toamasina will no longer suffer from electricity shortage because the power needed to electrify the city is 18 MW, thus making the current available power largely superior to the required one. Consequently, thanks to the establishment of the new thermal power plant, the JIRAMA of Toamasina will be able to receive 1.000 new subscribers of low voltage and 12 new subscribers of high voltage.
