In a declaration, Marc Ravalomanana has agreed to put his « ambitions » aside. Adopting a low profile, intervening on the Fjkm reformed church’s Fahazavàna radio, Marc Ravalomanana affirmed that he is henceforth an « ex-president », a former president. Ballast had to be dropped, « for the sake of the nation’s superior interest ».
Still on the Fahazavàna radio waves, Marc Ravalomanana said to have a certain number of visas to stay in different countries at his disposal. But « We will probably go to Brazil »
By the end of the meeting in Maputo, it’s been agreed that the former president would be able to return to Madagascar when conditions, namely those of his personal security, will be filled. In between, Marc Ravalomanana’s exile continues.
Since the Transition’s next parliament’s mission will be the enactment of a general amnesty law, Marc Ravalomanana is likely to be back among contestants for the next presidential election, unless being again back stabbed during the Transition. It will be then a new starting cycle for this industrial converted to politics.
In its article 9, the Maputo political agreement effectively specifies that the amnesty law project « is to be registered in priority on both Chambers’ agendas for enactment during their first sessions ».
The article 11 of the agreement stipulates then: « Anybody granted amnesty is to be immediately released, and will recover, without formalities, his civilian and political rights ».
