Spread over 23 hectares Lake Ravelobe carries the mystery of its own name.

Mysterious beauty of Lake Ravelobe.

To visit the national park and not visit Lake Ravelobe located but a few meters from the national highway to Mahajanga, would be unbelievable. The lake truly makes the park.

Spread over 23 hectares Lake Ravelobe carries the mystery of its own name. It seems Ravelobe was a Malagasy patriot who decided to take his own life and that of his family and bury them beneath the waters of the lake, rather than let the colonial French army arrest him. The local population considers the caiman to be found there as the descendants of the legendary figure of Ravelobe. Many hypotheses on the real truth surrounding Ravelobe are self contradictory, but don?t let that stop you from enjoying a visit to the lake. A guided tour will bring your attention to some beautiful natural resources. It?s a 7 Km trip around the lake in a small boat offering plenty of opportunity to observe the local caiman and fauna especially the birds. Enjoy the tour!
