Project “IT for All”: a partnership between Telma Foundation and Microsoft Company

Officially launched on November 23, the Project “Information Technology for All” primarily aims at familiarizing children from disadvantaged backgrounds and their trainers with basic IT tools and Internet. In today’s information age, computers and internet have become indispensable tools in education. To this end, Telma Foundation decided to implement the project “IT for All” to make information and communication technology like Internet accessible to all.

As for the Microsoft Company, it has been working and collaborating with various foundations and NGOs working to promote education worldwide for many years now. Through its program called Software Donation, the company donated various software and equipments, amounting to US $25 455, allowing to equip many learning centers in Madagascar with computers and software.

The first phase of the project has already started earlier this year with the training of the volunteer trainers in the Microsoft training center. They were particularly trained to use the Pack Office 2007. In their turn, the trainers will use their acquired skills to initiate and train children in the target establishments with IT tools. The beneficiaries of the project for its first phase include: Les Orchidées Blanches, Les Enfants du Soleil, Centre Fitahiana, Simbana Mijoro, Mikolo School, Centre Aina, Enfance et Avenir and Don Bosco. As a follow-up, the volunteer trainers are asked to work closely with the Microsoft ambassador and to submit monthly reports on the progress of their activities.
