One of the civil society’s fringe is holding it as one more pace towards a lull in the current political crisis. I could have been so if one more radio station close to the opposition, the Mahafaly radio station, located in Antsirabe, 110 miles away from the capital city, had not been shut by the ruling power. The radio station belonged to Olga Ramalason, mayor of Antsirabe, elected under the TM party’s color, the ousted president Marc Ravalomanana’s party.
The intertwinement of media and political lives in the Great Isle has been making reporters’ jobs increasingly complicated during the latest years. And the political crisis did not improve things any better. Since the year 2009, ten reporters have been sent behind bars, such a situation is second to none since 1989, as censorship was suppressed.
