Savonnerie Tropicale: claiming for the enforcement of standard compliance laws

In an official statement, the company Savonnerie Tropicale calls out to the government of the transition to take action as to the enforcement of the standard compliance laws, namely the ministerial decree of the September 30, 2011, which stated the standard regulations to follow when importing and manufacturing soaps and detergents. For Savonnerie Tropicale, these regulation laws have never been enforced, and for that reason, there is currently a massive flood of soaps and detergents on the local markets which do not comply with the established standards.

The majority of these noncompliant products are imported from Asian countries while some of them are produced locally. According to the statement, the fundamental rights of the local consumers to buy quality products and the interests of the local industries are both jeopardized by the invasion of these products, especially the imported ones. To this regard, the General Manager of Savonnerie Tropicale, André Ramaroson, describes the current situation as a complete anarchy, saying that the local trade and industry sector is being subjected to unfair competition. André Ramaroson also notes it is not the first time that Malagasy industrialists urge the government to take action concerning the invasion of noncompliant foreign products in Madagascar. To this end, Savonnerie Tropicale will never cease to claim the enforcement of standard compliance laws which are meant to protect local industries and consumers.
