Malagasy tax payers do not fancy the tax collection department's latest round. Many tax examination tours have been tackled over the latest days at several levels. Tax collectors sometimes happened to be escorted by armed security forces when doing their office, not to everyone's liking at all.

Tax inspection measures: increasingly grudged at

Civil society members, simple traders and tax payers are increasingly groaning as a matter of fact. At the capital city market of Anosibe, traders kept theirs doors closed in order to give a piece of their mind. Those of their kind did the same in Antsirabe and Toliara. And the word is spreading from shop to shop up against the tax collection department’s methods. The amount of money required by the department is often being held as utterly ludicrous. The presence of armed security forces during the tax examination process does not contribute to ease tense people up either. Although, this armed escort was the reaction to the fact that tax collectors actually argued to have been threatened when completing their mission on the ground. In the run of the latest ruling power shift, the local tax collection department is keen on doing what it takes to collect as much cash as possible. Simple citizens and average Joes often resent meeting their commitments this way since the country is still nowhere near any end of the social and economic fallouts of the five years long political crisis.
