The Ambatovy project’s workers on strike: sharp criticisms against Roland Ratsiraka

 

 

 

 

 

Some 400 workers employed in the Ambatovy project went on strike on August 27th. The reason is relatively simple: these 400 workers on duty are claiming more jobs for Toamasina city’s youth. On this account, these workers, generally stemming from  outside Toamasina, went on strike in Tanandava. “ this strike’s purpose is a claim for jobs for Toamasina city’s youth and in no way ethnic clashes. Do provide these youths living in Toamasina with jobs since they also have experience.  This must be made a priority, without consideration of ethnic discrimination”.

Roland Ratsiraka is this strike’s cause, according to strikers

Roland Ratsiraka is in the sight. This High Authority of Transition’s vice leader is angrily being blamed for having arguably invited “outsiders” to work here in Toamasina, against favorable votes during the presidential election

Some Fokontany chiefs are issuing fake residence certificates

Some of Toamasina city’s Fokontany chiefs are equally targeted for being inclined to deliver residence certificates to workers not settled in Toamasina so that they are able to work in the project. The strike is dimmed to continue, the Ambatovy project’s site of Tanandava is on stand by
